Hey y’all! I’m Dorothy, a 30 something originally hailing from Fairhope, Alabama but now calling Birmingham home. I live here with my husband, Hunter. We got married in October of 2023 and have since been turning his house into our home which we share with our dog, Winnie.
As the brand director for custom furniture company, Hibiscus House, I get to blend my love for design with my knack for storytelling. Before starting my current role, I honed my skills as a prop stylist in the world of magazine production, where I learned the art of crafting beautiful visuals that inspire.
This blog has become a favorite spot to occasionally share my musings on home decor, Southern living, and everything in between. From DIY projects to favorite recipes and snapshots of my life in Birmingham, I hope to inspire and connect with those of you with similar interests.
Interests and hobbies
When I’m not busy at work, you can usually find me enjoying the simple pleasures of life. I love taking walks with Winnie to explore the charming neighborhoods here in Birmingham.
I cherish time spent with family and friends, whether we’re gathering for a cozy dinner or simply catching up over coffee. Baking is another love of mine and I have far more cookbooks than I have time for the recipes within their pages.
Needlepointing is one of my most recent hobbies to step away from my screens, and I’ve had so much fun sharing it on social media. Interior design has been a long time interest of mine, and I enjoy transforming spaces into warm, inviting homes that reflect personal style. I’m currently doing that in our home and am never one to shy away from a do it yourself project to make my big ideas for our house a bit more affordable.
My love of making our house reflect our personality is best represented when entertaining. There’s nothing I love more than hosting friends and family for memorable gatherings. While everyday entertaining is always welcome, I particularly love creating beautiful tablescapes and arranging centerpieces to set the perfect atmosphere for each occasion.
This blog and its ability to be a creative outlet has also become a place where I enjoy sharing my online shopping escapades in collage style posts and in outfit styling as well. As a lover of giving gifts sharing those ideas here has become one of my favorite aspects of having this space.
In quieter moments, you’ll find me curled up with a good book, diving into anything from fiction to the design inspiration in my ever expanding collection of coffee table books.
