Since I took a prolonged break from blogging I feel like y’all haven’t gotten to join the journey on my needlepoint journey over the past couple of years. I initially started needlepointing during Covid but grew up seeing my mom and grandmother enjoy the hobby. My best friend and I both started our journey with these Taco Mama canvases and a trip to our local needlepoint store, Magic City Needlepoint, for advice on how to get started. Since then I’ve completed a few quite a few canvases and have even learned how to self-finish my ornament size pieces. The one thing I had yet to figure out was how to store all my projects, threads, and accessories in an organized way. My sister-in-law took notice and drew my name for our family secret Santa and thoughtfully gave me items to help with that.
She walked in with this massive Land’s End tote bag that she had embroidered locally in a font that looks cross-stitched. I’m not certain which size mine is but it has the long straps and a zipper top and is HUGE! They have quite a few different strap colors, but the three color straps on the one she gifted me feel fun and like a nod to stitching. There are three interior pockets on one side and a larger pocket with a snap on the other side of the interior. These have been great for organizing some of my needlepoint accessories like my neck light, needlepoint decorative stitch cards, and extra pouches to use to organize future projects.
The true game changer when it has come to the organization of my projects has been these clear zipper pouches. My sister-in-law got me a variety of sizes with cute colored zippers and they have become the perfect project bags. I place my project, a zip lock of the threads I’ve kitted for the project, and a pair of scissors in the bag so that they are ready to grab as I pick out a new project to work on. I have one pouch that sits by our sofa with my current work in progress in it, but I’m tempted to order this cute magazine holder to make it look even more intentionally placed by my spot. After showing my mom these pouches she ordered the pouches with a black zipper and my favorite small needlepoint scissors to store in each to keep her projects organized and easy to grab for on-the-go stitching!
